For those who are considering visiting Australia for the first time, here are some suggested tourist destinations. Travel to Australia in the summertime in the Southern Hemisphere to rejuvenate your senses with stunning scenery and delectable cuisine!
This time, I’d like to introduce some tourist spots in Australia that I found highly recommended after traveling there in February, which is the middle of winter in Japan and the middle of summer there.
Australia is a country where you can enjoy seasons that are the complete opposite of Japan, and since winter is the best time to visit in Japan, it is also a popular overseas travel destination to escape the cold.
What’s more, the time difference is only about one hour, so there’s no need to worry about jet lag!
When it comes to travelling to Australia, Sydney is a popular destination, but I would recommend the Gold Coast and Byron Bay.
The Gold Coast is a place where you can enjoy both the charm of nature and the charm of the city. You can also hold a koala, which is something you can only do in a few places in Australia, and enjoy shopping and walking around the city.
Also, Byron Bay, located about an hour’s drive from the Gold Coast, is the easternmost city in Australia. Although it is a small town, it is a place where hippie art and other cultures are deeply rooted.
There are live music performances all over the city, and you can enjoy delicious locally produced food in organic restaurants.
What’s the weather like in February on the Gold Coast?
February on the Gold Coast is very warm, and you can wear a shirt and shorts.
February, which is the local summer, has a comfortable climate with an average temperature of 20℃ to 28℃. It can get a little chilly at night, so it’s a good idea to carry a scarf or something similar in your bag.
“Taro Beach,” where the sunset is too beautiful
Tallow Beach is a place where you can enjoy the endless sand and beautiful sunset.
The Gold Coast’s impressive beaches, with their seemingly endless sandy beaches, are simply breathtaking.
The beach is great during the day, but the sunset is also amazing. The sunset at Tallow Beach was especially memorable.
The sand is smooth, so you can run around barefoot. Strolling on the beach, surrounded by the orange sky. The slow pace of the day will help reset your tired mind.
You can hold a koala! Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a famous spot where you can get up close and personal with Australian animals.
There is a strong image that in Australia you can hold a koala at any zoo.
However, in fact, you can’t hold a koala in all states of Australia. You can’t hold a koala in Sydney or Melbourne, but you can in Queensland, where the Gold Coast is located.
I especially recommend the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
You can take photos holding a koala. It was a great memory to have a beautiful photo taken in a place surrounded by greenery.
You can get on a small train and travel through the spacious park, which is very exciting!
The park is in an environment very close to nature, so you will feel as if you are walking through a forest.
You can also enjoy feeding shows of colorful lorikeets, which are held in the morning and evening, as well as feeding kangaroos , so you can enjoy a zoo that is full of Australian charm and a little different from Japanese zoos.
Byron Bay with its beautiful blue sky, sea and white lighthouse
The historic lighthouse overlooks a spectacular view that will leave you in awe. Cape Byron Lighthouse.
Even if you live near the sea, you probably don’t often have the opportunity to go to the lighthouse, but if you go to Byron Bay, it’s a spot you should definitely stop by.
This lighthouse has over 100 years of history and is a symbol of Byron Bay.
The eye-opening contrast of blue and white is beautiful and sure to make for a great photo!
Because it is on high ground, you feel close to the sky. You can spend a luxurious time enjoying the magnificent natural scenery while feeling the pleasant breeze.
Lake Ainsworth, a natural aromatic oil lake
This lake is a popular healing spot.
Lake Ainsworth, also known as Tea Tree Lake, is a brown lake surrounded by Tea Tree trees, which grow in Australia and are the source of aromatic oils .
Because the nutrients flow out from the tea tree into the lake, it is also famous as a power spot where you can feel healed just by soaking in it.
There were no waves, so the calmness made me want to float there forever, and I found my body and mind soothed.
After enjoying the lake, we recommend relaxing and enjoying a picnic while gazing at the lake.
Harvest Cafe, where you can enjoy local organic cuisine
Byron Bay has many restaurants where you can enjoy beautiful food made with locally produced organic ingredients, but the one I recommend is Harvest Café.
Warm sunlight pours into the terrace seats, surrounded by beautiful flowers, allowing time to pass at a leisurely pace.
All the food at Harvest Cafe is so delicious, you’ll want to eat it again and again, and you’ll never forget it even after you’ve returned to Japan!
They serve fresh, locally grown vegetables in beautiful, sophisticated dishes.
Byron Bay is generally sunny throughout the year, and we were blessed with good weather that day as well, so we enjoyed food packed with the power of nature while feeling the most comfortable, gentle breeze on our terrace.
After the meal, many people relaxed at their seats, some enjoying conversation, some reading, and some just gazing outside. They all enjoyed this slow-paced time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Recommended for those who want to heal both body and mind.
When you work hard every day, sometimes you push yourself too hard and end up running out of battery.
At times like these, you’ll want to go to a place where you can forget about your busy days and find peace of mind and body.
All of the tourist spots in Australia introduced in this article will give you the energy to feel like “I can do my best again!”
There’s no need to worry about jet lag, so it’s a recommended travel destination for working women.
If you’re wondering if it’s too much work, why not plan a trip to Australia, a country surrounded by beautiful nature, and actually visit the country?
We hope you enjoy the relaxing time that is hard to find in the city and let your mind and body be soothed.
